About the Band
Fourteen Feet is a New York based roots-rock band that was founded by singer/songwriter Steve Welner. Running the gamut from traditional acoustic folk, blues, and bluegrass to over-driven electric rock, the band can most accurately be described as fitting within the, "Americana", or No Depression style. Along with Steve (guitar, vocal), the band line-up features Rich Lanahan (guitar, vocal), Mike "Hombre" Meehan (bass, vocal), Mike McDonald (drums), and Billy Cairns (drums). Fourteen Feet's third, and most recent album, Stole Away..."The Billy Sessions" (2008) was produced by Eric "Roscoe" Ambel and engineered by Tim Hatfield at Cowboy Technical Services in Brooklyn, NY. It was named in tribute to their late great drummer, Billy Cairns who played on all of the tracks. The band's other recordings include, "Running Hearts" (2006) and, "All You Need" (2001).
Fourteen Feet is the distance that Curly fell through a laundry chute in a 3 Stooges episode. It is also the drop from the gallows in the Joseph Conrad novel, "The Secret Agent".

On Saturday, July 26th the Freelance Vandals will be staging, "BILLYFEST 2008", a benefit concert celebrating the memory of beloved drummer, Billy Cairns. Featured performers include, The Treutlein/Novak Band, The Open Mic Set, The Freelance Vandals, Fourteen Feet, and a Late Night "Jam" Set. This event will be held at the Union Park Cafe in Oceanside, NY. Doors open @ 4:30 pm. BillyFest
On Friday, August 8th Fourteen Feet will be having a NYC-D release party at the Lakeside Lounge. If you were unable to attend the June party here's another opportunity to hear the band and celebrate the new album release with us. If you were at the last event come on down as well!
