About the Band Fourteen Feet is a New York based roots-rock band that was founded in 2001 by singer/songwriter Steve Welner. Running the gamut from traditional acoustic folk, blues, and bluegrass to over-driven electric rock, the band can most accurately be described as fitting within the, "Americana", or "No Depression" style. Along with Steve (guitar, vocal), the current line-up features Rich Lanahan (guitar, vocal), Mike "Hombre" Meehan (bass, vocal), Carmine Cacioppo (drums), and Mike McDonald (drums). The band's third album, Stole Away, "The Billy Sessions" will be released in May 2008. The album was named in tribute to their late great drummer, Billy Cairns. All of the songs for the new album were played and recorded live onto analog tape and then transfered to the digital realm. It was produced by Eric "Roscoe" Ambel and engineered by Tim Hatfield at, Cowboy Technical Studios in Brooklyn, NY. The band's other recordings include, "Running Hearts" (2006) and, "All You Need" (2001). Fourteen Feet is the distance that Curly fell through a laundry chute in a 3 Stooges episode. It is also the drop from the gallows in the Joseph Conrad novel, "The Secret Agent". All booking and inquiries: fourteenfeet14@aol.com Fourteen Feet myspace page: www.myspace.com/fourteenfeet |
